Finding a Hotel in Bozeman

• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide for Bozeman, Montana.
Bozeman is one of Montana's premier tourist destinations for its mountain scenery, outdoor recreational activities and close proximity to national attractions. Situated in the southwestern part of the state—which is known as Big Sky Country—along Interstate 90, the small city is a gateway to Yellowstone National Park and the ski resort of Big Sky and Moonlight Basin,  and well as Montana's Rockies and three nearby rivers renowned for their fly fishing opportunities. In Bozeman itself, the highly-regarded Museum of the Rockies, the scenic campus of Montana State University (MSU) and a historic downtown replete with upscale galleries, shops and restaurants draw visitors in its own right, resulting in a considerable selection of hotels and motels to suit both business and leisure travelers of all budgets.

Most accommodation can be found in three main areas of Bozeman—at the northern ends of 19th Street North and 27th Street North, both of which intersect I-90, and along the east end of the city's Main Street, which runs through the downtown.

Gallatin Field Airport serves the area—including traffic heading south to Big Sky and West Yellowstone (entrance to Yellowstone National Park)—and is situated just over 6 mi (10 km) northwest of Bozeman.

19th STREET NORTH

Bozeman continues to grow along its western border and this commercial corridor has become one of the city's main retail streets with big box stores and new chain hotels congregated at its northern end. This area is particularly convenient to the airport and I-90 and accommodation options here include Hilton and Marriott properties.

27th STREET NORTH

Like 19th Street, 27th Street North is home to several well-established hotels and motels clustered at its northern end, meaning a stay here offers quick access to the interstate and airport. This area is also the most direct route to Bridger Bowl, Bozeman's local but legendary ski mountain in the Bridger Mountains just northeast of the city. The hotel properties here are a mix of independent and chain names, with many of them offering popular restaurants on site, as well as banquet facilities for weddings, university events and meetings. The Bozeman Inn is a long standing favorite and is home to an equally popular on-site restaurant.

MAIN STREET

Visitors looking for family owned, economically priced motels will find them along the east end of Bozeman's Main Street, which runs from I-90 in the east, through the historic downtown to its newer west end. A few mid-range hotel properties are also situated just west of the downtown. Stays at any of Main's hotels and motels provide easy access to downtown Bozeman, as well as the acclaimed Museum of the Rockies and MSU, both of which are situated south of the downtown past the city's grand tree-lined Wilson Avenue.

LANDMARK HOTELS

Bozeman's most historic and signature property is the Gallatin Gateway Inn, situated just west of the city along Gallatin Highway (which runs from I-90 to West Yellowstone). The grand Spanish-style inn was built in the 1920s and is a National Trust for Historic Preservation property. Today, guests will find over 30 upscale rooms at the full-service hotel and fine dining and a stay here is particularly convenient for Big Sky and Yellowstone, as well as fishing or floating the Madison and Gallatin Rivers.

The Baxter Hotel is another historic property in the heart of downtown Bozeman. The Art Deco-style building is best known for its trendy eateries and a wine bar, but also offers one and two-bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens, laundry facilities and mountain views.
